Coin Book
Task: Design and construct an artist's book with images, layout, text, and theme
Specs: 2 1/2"x 125", pink cover, one-sided accordion book

Concept
This project was an opportunity to turn my state quarter collection into a functional piece of art. If one day I do not have my collection, I will have it memorialized in a handcrafted book.
Process
My coin book started out as a simple sketch. I chose the scale and presentation of the book to emphasize the actual size and number of quarters. My choice for the color of the book's covering was inspired by the cardboard box the state quarters were in (see slideshow). I digitized my physical collection by scanning each coin individually using an Epson scanner. I then printed the photos, cut them to size, and organized them alphabetically. I used cardboard and card stock to create the backing for the photos and then bound the book accordion style.

Interior
There are 50 state quarters. The sticky notes represent the state quarters I'm missing. I'm still on the hunt for seven more state quarters.
